Edge Painting.

Right now, I’m trying to work on my business cards and trying to see what I can do differently from others and then I stumbled upon this Printing Process Series by Oh So Beautiful Paper.

So What is Edge Painting, you ask? Edge painting at its surface sounds pretty simple – it’s a process by which color is applied to the edges of cards, invitations, even books or journals.  Edge painting can be done in any color, including metallics and foils (!), and is usually mixed by hand to be matched to a specific Pantone color.

I am totally in love with the gold! I love the simplicity and the creation of richness (if that’s even a word to describe it).  But I feel like the edge painting would be perfect for me especially when I am leaning towards doing a blind embossing for my business card – this pop of colour would just make it just that special.

Do you have any other business cards ideas to make it stand out from the crowd?

Chosen.

I finally chosen the typeface for my 2012 portfolio edition: Josefin Slab. It is a traditional serif with a contemporary twist. I was looking through so many typefaces that I nearly gave up and was going to stick with the universal font of Helvetica but after sleeping on it, I turned on my computer today and saw the Josefin Slab. Now… the question is: do I go with the traditional colour choice of black & white or should I add a punch of colour? And so the dilemma continues…
